The Baha'is of the group of Rancho Mirage, Ca. (near Palm Springs) take this wonderful opportunity to congratulate you from the depth of our hearts on this very special occasion. 50 years of this stupendous Faith in the Faroe Islands is really something for us all to contemplate and meditate upon. We sometimes forget the spirit of the actions and activities that maintain the Faith in a location. Know that we will say special prayers of gratitude and remembrance at our own intercommunity Naw Ruz gathering being held here in Rancho Mirage on March 22 as well. Ya Baha'ul-Abha! Most lovingly, The Baha'i Group of Rancho Mirage - Tom Funk - corresponding scty.

Dear Friends How wonderful to hear it is your fifty year celebration of the Faith in your island. We too, celebrate fifty years, beginning at Naw Ruz. We will have a party on the saturday. In June a member of the National Spiritual Assembly of
the Baha'is of the United Kingdom will come and present a book to our Governor (official leader) and we hope, The Bailiff (our political leader). We also hope to get lots of visitors this year, although it is a holiday place, we don't normally get too many Baha'i visitors. A picture postcard is on its way from the Community. We are very small here but faithful. Good luck with all your celebrations and work for the Faith, we will remember you in our prayers. - Marlene Morris Jersey Baha'i Community

 |
On 21 March 2003, the Baha'i community commenced a year of memorial activities celebrating 50 years in the Faroe Islands. The year was dedicated to the memory of Eskil Ljungberg (1886 - 1985), the first Baha'i in the Faroes. An exhibition entitled "Greetings and Congratulations from Around the World", was open to the public, and featured a reception on 22 March, 15:00, in the Baha'i Centre. On display were numerous picture postcards and messages sent to the Baha'is of the Faroes in honour of the occasion. The exhibit was open to the public every Tuesday (20:00 - 21:00) and Sunday (14:00 - 16:00) through 15 April. Activities throughout the year included various exhibits and the publication of a booklet about the life of Eskil Ljungberg.
